Crews installed a high friction surface treatment comprised of an epoxy binder and red-pigmented, recycled glass aggregate. Work was performed over the course of three night shifts to highlight the curb lanes from Barry Place to Florida Avenue as usage for buses, bicycles, and taxis only. The project is scheduled to begin the last major activity of construction: installation of a red, high friction surface treatment within the newly configured dedicated bus lanes. The red surface installation will take place over a few night shifts during the week of June 6th. The red color will help to further delineate the lanes for use only by buses, bicycles, and taxis. This last step of the project will create bus lanes within the District similar to the dedicated bus lanes installed at the end of last year in New York City as seen below.
